SSLYBA Adapted League

Our adapted League is for children K-6th grade in Lorain County that may struggle on a typical team due to developmental delays and/or disabilities. Our goal is to provide a welcoming space where all players can enjoy the game without judgement or pressure to perform a certain way.

Q: Is my child required to wear baseball pants?

A: Your child may wear black, gray or white baseball pants. If they are not comfortable in baseball pants of have sensory sensitivities, basketball shorts are acceptable.

Q: What kind of shoes should my child wear?

A: Your child may wear rubber cleats or tennis shoes.

Q: Can parents and guardians sign up to coach or help?

A: Yes, parents and guardians can sign up to be a coach or team helper when registering their child.

Q: Will there be anyone assisting my child?

A: YES! We have wonderful volunteers to assist and support the children in any way they may need. Many of our volunteers are intervention specialists, paraprofessionals, occupational therapists and physical therapists.

Q: What accessibility and support features are available for players?

A: Our fields are fully accessible, including wheelchair access and adaptive features to ensure all players can participate comfortably. We provide modified equipment, sensory bins and noise-cancelling headphones to accommodate different needs. Our league is designed specifically for individuals with disabilities, developmental delays or special needs. Everyone is included, supported and encouraged to enjoy the game in a way that works best for them!
